I'd say a mazda 3(wagon for sure) for the utility, or a tC if you want something kinda sporty but still reliable. my buddy has one and it's nice and he's had no problems with it. I mean come on it's a toyota, you know they're reliable, you just had one.
personally, if i was going off that list, i'd choose a tC. and prob turbo the crap out of it, but that's just me. _________________

^^so slow
so, pretty much narrowed it down to either Mazda3 or Toyota Corolla.
I like the Mazda3 more than the Corolla.
Anyone know of anyone selling one in good condition? (transmission doesn't matter, would like to have ABS, <80,000 miles)
Thanks guys! _________________ 2009-2010 PR
Not sure what the used pricing on it is, but my girlfriend has a newer camry. It's a great people mover and seems reliable (meets your requirements) but the thing has no soul - it makes me love my MINI that much more after driving her car. I've driven a Mazda 3 (the hatchback one) and felt about the same for it with the added funness of being incapable of making a smooth shift for anything. I hear the Mazdaspeed3 transmission is the same (don't remember who was telling me their sister had one that did that, Ari maybe?).

How else is she supposed to bus around all the children she's supposed to pop out?
I loved my 3. Totally worth it to me. Tons of space, zippy little car. I found it very easy to shift. Easy to work on, i sold mine last year this time for 9k with 70k miles on it. (very early edition hatch 2.3 manual.)
My sister has a scion and has had a few issues with it. (tc) also, the car is the most cramped thing ever. And horrible to drive. (no feel compared to the mazda.) www.mazda3forums.com , In 72k of VERY VERY VERY hard driving. I went through 3 sets of tires, tons of oil changes, a clutch, and a thermostat. Nothing else died or broke on it. Very sturdy little car.
I just had to have more power... _________________

As sad as I am to say it, I voted for the TC. Of the group, it's gonna be the best bet. Civics have become way too cookie cutter.
One of our customers has a TC. We used a Sound Performance turbo kit, and he make a little over 360 whp with no other mods. Daily driven and with no issues. Best of both worlds.
Although, a K20 swapped Fit with a blower sounds like fun too.

The Mazda 3 is good. A base Subaru Impreza is a safe car and is pretty cheap. Plus you get the all wheel drive which is good if you move up north and have to drive in snow.

Between the Corolla and the Mazda3, the Corolla better suits your needs in a few areas. But that being said, it has no soul and I would find it boring myself. Go for the Mazda! Wish you didn't hate hatches though cause it looks much better than the sedan _________________ Club Secretary (2009-2010)
