When posting here, we have a few suggestions that we really hope will improve the quality of posts on these boards. Please take a few minutes to go over these suggesitions.
This cannot be stressed enough. Please conduct yourself in a professional, adult manner when posting on this site. Childish arguments and/or conduct are strongly frowned upon.
2) SEARCH SEARCH SEARCH.
Search for answers to questions before making a post. Chances are the topic has come up before. If you search, you'll probably get an answer in minutes vs. hours or days waiting on a response in a post. If the information isn't important enough for you to spend 5 min. doing a search on it, why should we spend 5 min. answering it for you?
3) Argue Intelligently
Arguments happen. People will disagree, that's called human nature. The proper way to argue a point is to support it with relevant facts. The incorrect way is to make blanket statements, insults (see rules), or use hearsay. If you're going to make a statement for or against something, state you reasons in an intelligent manner. Give sources when possible, and listen to responses. Argue the facts, not the principles or people involved.
4) Always state where you're coming from.
You should always present yourself in an honest manner. If you are making a statement you think is 80% true, say so in your post. Don't present things as facts if you're not sure. Leave an "out" in case you're proven wrong later on. Statements like "Well, I'm not positive, but I think the '86 Prelude ran mid 16's stock" are great because they let the reader know the information isn't necessarily 100% accurate, not to mention, it makes you look far more intelligent to the rest of us. "I worked for GM for 18 years, and I can tell you that what you're saying isn't possible because...." Awesome statement. By telling us your background, you've given yourself credibility, and you're supporting your statements with facts.
5) Think before you type!
The greatest benefit of on-line communication is that you have the luxury of taking your time to respond to a question, argument, or comment. Be smart and use this time you think about what you want to say. Make sure you're accomplishing you're goals to get your point across in an intelligent way. If you're angry, maybe you should wait before posting a reply. Type what you want to say, then take the time to edit it if you need to. There is a "Preview" button, don't be afraid to use it and proof read your post to make sure it's what you want to say before submitting it to the world.
6) Remember, we're here because we all love cars and racing. We're all friends.
We won't always get along with everyone, but everyone that follows the rules has a place here, and is equally important among us. Make sure you respect everyone rights, and make sure you remember that we're all here for a common love, that we're all friends, and chose your comments accordingly.
7) Enjoy yourself!
This should be fun for everyone. If you have any ideas, comments, concerns, questions, etc., please use the suggestions forum to let us know. We check it often, and really take what's said in there to heart. We can't make things better if we don't know there are problems. _________________ 1987 BMW 325is #?? Spec E30
